Dental Veneers
Book a Veneer ConsultationDental veneers are thin, custom-made restorations placed over the front surface of selected teeth to improve aspects of their colour, shape, size and overall appearance. At our Bayan Lepas clinic in Penang, we assess your teeth, gums, bite and smile before considering porcelain or composite veneers.
What Dental Veneers Help With
Veneers may be considered for discolouration, uneven tooth shapes or proportions, minor chips or worn edges, teeth that appear small or irregular, selected small gaps and certain minor appearance-related alignment concerns.
They do not replace orthodontic treatment when significant tooth movement or bite correction is required. Likewise, if tooth colour is your main concern, professional whitening may sometimes provide a more conservative option than veneers.
Porcelain or Composite Veneers?
Porcelain veneers use custom-made dental ceramic restorations and are generally more resistant to staining. Composite veneers use tooth-coloured composite resin that can be shaped to improve the tooth's appearance, and selected damage may be easier to repair with composite.
Neither material is automatically the better choice. Your dentist can discuss the differences after assessing your teeth, existing restorations, bite and the aesthetic changes you want to achieve.
Are Veneers Suitable for You?
Veneers may be considered for adults with suitable teeth who want to change selected aspects of their smile. Assessment includes the condition of your teeth and gums, enamel and tooth structure, existing restorations, bite and tooth position, and grinding or clenching where relevant.
Active tooth decay, gum disease or other oral health problems may need to be addressed before cosmetic treatment proceeds.

Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on the individual tooth, veneer material and treatment design. Some cases require tooth preparation, and the amount varies. Your dentist should explain the planned preparation before treatment.
There is no single lifespan for every veneer. Longevity can be influenced by the material, underlying tooth condition, bite, oral hygiene, grinding or clenching and how the restorations are maintained.
There is no standard number. It depends on which teeth are visible when you smile, the changes you want to make, your existing tooth proportions and your overall treatment plan.
