Implant Dentistry & Tooth Replacement
Dental Implants
Book a Dental Implant ConsultationDental implants are a fixed tooth-replacement option for one or more missing teeth. At our Bayan Lepas clinic in Penang, we assess your teeth, gums, bone, bite and overall dental condition before determining whether implant treatment is appropriate and how the final restoration should be planned.
Why Patients Consider Dental Implants
- Fixed tooth replacement — implant-supported restorations remain in place for everyday use.
- Single or multiple missing teeth — implants can support different tooth-replacement plans.
- 3D planning where appropriate — CBCT imaging can provide detailed information about the treatment area.
- Surgical and restorative planning — treatment considers both implant placement and the restoration it will support.

What Dental Implants Help With
A dental implant is a biocompatible post, commonly made from titanium, placed surgically into the jawbone to provide a foundation for a dental restoration. For a single missing tooth, the completed restoration generally consists of the implant, an abutment and a dental crown.
Implants may be considered for a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth or certain implant-supported restorative solutions. They may also provide an alternative to selected conventional bridges or removable dentures.
Are Dental Implants Suitable for You?
Suitability depends on more than the presence of a missing tooth. Assessment may consider your gum and periodontal health, available bone, neighbouring teeth, bite and chewing forces, oral hygiene, general health and relevant lifestyle or medical factors.
Insufficient bone does not necessarily rule out implant treatment. In selected cases, bone grafting or another preparatory approach may be discussed following appropriate assessment and imaging.
Your Dental Implant Treatment Journey
1.
Consultation & Assessment
We examine the missing-tooth area, remaining teeth, gums, bite and overall oral condition. Digital X-rays and 3D CBCT imaging may be used where appropriate.
2.
Personalised Planning
Implant treatment is planned according to your bone structure, tooth position, oral health and restorative requirements.
3.
Implant Placement
The implant is surgically placed into the planned position in the jawbone under local anaesthesia, followed by a healing period.
4.
Abutment & Crown
Once sufficiently healed, the implant can support an abutment and custom dental crown planned with function, bite and appearance in mind.
5.
Maintenance
Daily oral hygiene, professional maintenance and regular dental reviews remain important after treatment.
Digital Planning and Multidisciplinary Support

Explore Your Tooth-Replacement Options
Dental implants are one option for replacing missing teeth rather than automatically the right treatment for every situation. Our dental team can assess the missing-tooth area and discuss implants, bridges, dentures or other appropriate tooth-replacement approaches.
